48 HOURS IN CANMORE
ON THE ROAD WITH YOHO & CO. :: WINTER EDITION :: 2019
Canmore is a dreamy little Rockies ski town with awesome views and a laid-back mountain vibe.
Featuring spectacular big mountain views, Canmore is also chock-full of high-quality, independent shops, galleries and boutiques. Once here, you’ll also find an abundance of hip eateries and decadent accommodations that make it easy to truly relax and unwind after a day full of adventure and exploration.
So pack up your skis, snowshoes, fat tire bike (or all of the above!). Yoho & Co. invites you to discover everything Canmore has to offer and we’re here to help make your time with the Three Sisters memorable and fun.
48 HOURS IN CANMORE: WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY.
THE FIRST 24:
BUT, FIRST, COFFEE…
In our Yoho & Co. studio, we’re obsessed with the Signature Blend from RAVE COFFEE for our morning pour-overs. So grab your fav morning sip from Rave, then head over for gourmet French patisserie treats at LE FOURNIL where everything is freshly-baked and ahhh-mazing.
Once you finish your Pain au chocolat, you’ll want to burn off those calories with a ski at the local World Cup and 1988 Olympic’s venue, the CANMORE NORDIC CENTRE. Skis can be rented on location before you set out on your journey on the track-set, hour-ish long loop, the Banff Avenue Trail.
After your refreshing glide, head back Downtown for a fresh-pressed juice & wrap from the newly reno’d MOUNTAIN JUICE CAFE (and don’t forget a selfie outside their really colourful art wall mural).
Re-nourished, you can now spend the rest of the afternoon checking out the adorable boutiques on Main Street. Find cute puffer jackets and designer gloves at TOCCATA FOR HER, gorgeous jewelry and socks at MOUNTAIN MERCANTILE and don’t forget to to shop for YOHO & CO. at ALBERTA’S OWN (where they specialize in awesome Alberta-made art and have a great selection of those cute knit hats with the poofs that you see everyone wearing).
THE NEXT 24:
GO AHEAD… WAKE UP LATE.
At Yoho & Co, we love to start the day by enjoying some plant-based breakfast options (we are addicted to the vegan burrito) at COMMUNITEA. Once seated in their modern-cozy space, you can lazily plan your day of La Dolce Vita — Canmore-style.
Next, grab your car or ride the bus up towards Cougar Creek, for a photo opp on Canmore’s legendary rope swing. Directions.
After you’ve swung your heart out, head back to Spring Creek just in time for your pre-booked SKIN RNI facial (trust us, EVERYONE will find this life-changing). Later, feeling all glow-y and relaxed, wander the Policeman Creek boardwalk back to the downtown area stopping at the ‘BIG HEAD’ for a photo opp.
Continue walking or grab a taxi to CRAZYWEED for a lunch of leisure in their bright and airy space before wandering back to your hotel for a soak in the outdoor hot pools.
Check the schedule at COMMUNITEA for their concert series line-up which always makes for a great evening out.
ARTS PLACE often features live concerts, dance, art shows, and comedy nights in an intimate setting for an affordable price.
THE BEST OF FREE or ALMOST-FREE CANMORE:
Borrow some skis and enjoy no-fee night skiing at the Nordic Centre after 6 p.m.
Local happy hours start are from 3-6 pm (approx.) and you’ll find some of the best offerings on appies/drinks at Table in the Coast Hotel (Bow Valley Trail), at Murrietta’s (Downtown) and in the lounge at the Malcolm (Spring Creek).
Rent some skates and head to one of Canmore’s spectacular ponds for a glide.
